Walk Among the Reefs

06/10/2015

Want to check out some coral reef without ever getting wet? It's easy at Windley Key Fossil Reef Geological State Park. Just ten minutes from our Islamorada resort, this state park was originally a limestone quarry and is distinguished by acres of ancient exposed coral reef that forms an eight-foot high wall with entire coral heads exposed in their original growth position. Visitors can hike five trails and see a variety of different birds as well as over forty different species of birds and plants. So take a break from the beach and experience this open-air, all-natural museum.
